Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 11, 2026
Track My Adventure (“the App”, “we”, “us”) lets you record your outdoor activities, share them live with people you choose, and follow others. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how it is shared, and the choices and rights you have. By using the App or the website at trackmyadventure.app, you agree to this policy.
Who we are
The App is operated by Adventure Peter. For any privacy question or request, contact peter@adventurepeter.com.
Information we collect
- Location data. When you start a track, the App records your device’s precise GPS location (latitude, longitude, altitude, speed, heading and accuracy) at intervals, including while the app is in the background or the screen is locked, until you stop the track. This is the core function of the App and only happens during an active recording you started.
- Account information. The App works without an account using an anonymous profile. If you sign in, we store your email address (or the identifier from Google/Apple sign-in) and a display name and optional avatar image you provide.
- Activity content. Tracks and their statistics, titles and activity type; planned events and their times; photos you attach to a track; chat messages you send or receive on a track; and imported route (GPX) files.
- Invitations. If you invite someone to an event, we store the email address you enter in order to send the invitation and let them join.
- Safety contacts. If you use the safety features, we store the email addresses you add so we can email them a link to your live map when you start tracking, and alert them if you press SOS or stop moving unexpectedly.
- Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a device push token so we can notify you about chat messages on your track and event invitations. You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
- Donations. If you turn on fundraising for an adventure, donations are processed by Stripe. We receive the amount and any name or message the donor chooses to display — we never receive card details.
- Diagnostics. A local on-device log of sync events (kept on your phone to help troubleshoot tracking) and basic error information. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
- Purchases. If you buy a subscription (Pro), the purchase is handled by the app store and our payments provider (RevenueCat). We receive your subscription status, not your card details.
How we use your information
- To record, save and display your tracks, stats and photos.
- To power live sharing — broadcasting your position and content to people who open a link you share.
- To create and run events, send invitations, and show participants on one map.
- To deliver chat between you and your followers.
- To provide account features across devices and keep your data in sync.
- To show weather for your adventure — your approximate coordinates are sent to Open-Meteo to fetch a forecast. This only happens when the weather feature is used.
- To send you notifications you asked for, such as chat replies and event invitations.
- To alert your safety contacts if you press SOS or stop moving unexpectedly.
- To diagnose and fix problems, and keep the service secure.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How your information is shared
- Links you create are public. When you share a track or event link (trackmyadventure.app/t/…), anyone with that link can view the track’s route, your live or last-known position, your display name and avatar, stats, public photos and chat — without signing in. Only share links with people you trust. A planned event link can show your planned route before you start.
- Participants. In a group event, participants and the host can see each other’s live position, name and avatar on the map.
- Service providers. We use Supabase (database, authentication, storage and realtime hosting) to operate the service; Google and Apple to provide optional sign-in; Expo, Apple (APNs) and Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver push notifications; RevenueCat and the app stores to process subscriptions; Stripe to process donations; Open-Meteo to fetch weather for your location; and map tile providers (such as OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap and BGMountains) to display maps — a map provider necessarily receives the coordinates of the map tiles your device requests. These providers process data on our behalf or as needed to provide their part of the service.
- Legal. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and security of users and the service.
Data retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, and no longer:
- Account information (email, display name, avatar) — retained for as long as your account exists.
- Tracks, positions, photos, chat messages and events — retained until you delete them, or until you delete your account, whichever comes first.
- Device push tokens — retained until you disable notifications, sign out, or delete your account.
- Safety-contact and invitation email addresses — retained until you remove them or delete the related event or account.
- On-device diagnostics — kept only on your device and cleared when you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Payment and donation records — retained only for as long as required to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, then deleted or anonymised.
Deleting your account erases your data. Open the App and go to Profile → Delete my account. This permanently and immediately erases your profile, adventures, positions, photos, chat messages, safety contacts and push tokens; it cannot be undone, and any shared links stop working. You can also email peter@adventurepeter.com from your account’s email address and we will erase it for you. Tracks stored only on your device are removed when you delete them or uninstall the App. Deleting your account does not cancel a Pro subscription — manage that in your App Store or Google Play account.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at peter@adventurepeter.com. You can withdraw location permission at any time in your device settings (which stops tracking), and you can use the App as an anonymous guest without providing an email.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our hosting provider using access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process and store data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
